Inside last week's issue

Firms that weren't on anyone's list on Monday.

New York requires every contractor and sub on a public project to register with the Department of Labor. We separate the first‑time registrants from the renewals, add what matters to people who sell to them, and send it as a spreadsheet you can drop into your CRM.

Who it's for

If you sell to contractors, a new registration is the moment to call.

Surety & bond agents

Reach them before their first bid bond.

A firm registers because it plans to bid public work, and public work in New York means bid, performance and payment bonds.

Watch for
First‑time registrants, out‑of‑state firms entering NY
Commercial insurance

See who's taking on public risk.

Public owners require GL, auto and workers' comp certificates. New registrants and new subs are shopping for coverage that meets them.

Watch for
Workers' comp status, new subs on large projects
Equipment rental

Know which jobs just broke ground.

A first payroll filing tells you a crew is on site this week, with the owner, location and trades working.

Watch for
Heavy & highway starts, sitework and paving trades
Staffing

Find contractors who need certified crews.

Prevailing‑wage jobs need tradespeople fast. New starts and out‑of‑state primes are where the gaps are.

Watch for
Trades on first payroll, apprenticeship programs
How it works

Public filings in. A call list out.

01 · Collect

Read every filing

We pull the Department of Labor's contractor registry and certified payroll filings as they're published on New York's open data portal.

02 · Clean

Keep only what's new

Renewals are separated from first registrations, names and phones are cleaned, sole proprietors are left out, and each row gets its trade and signals.

03 · Deliver

Monday, in your inbox

One Excel file and two CSVs, ready for your CRM or dialer. Same columns every week, so imports never break.

Questions

Good questions.

Where does the data come from?

New York Labor Law §220‑i requires every contractor and subcontractor on a covered public project to register with the Department of Labor. The registry and certified payroll filings are published on New York's open data portal. We read them, clean them and work out what's new each week.

If it's public, why pay for it?

The raw registry is one list of more than 14,000 certificates. Renewals and first registrations look the same, names and phones are inconsistent, and nothing tells you which firms are new this week. We do that work every week so your team only sees the firms worth calling.

Can I call the firms on the list?

These are businesses that registered to do public work, and we leave out sole proprietors. You're still responsible for following federal and New York telemarketing rules, including the Do Not Call registry.

Do you include email addresses?

Not today. The state doesn't publish emails, so the feed gives you the business phone and street address from the filing.

How is this different from Dodge or ConstructConnect?

Those services track projects before they're awarded. Prevailwire tracks contractors: who just qualified to work on public jobs and who just started one. It's a sales list for people who sell to contractors, at a fraction of the price.

Do you cover other states?

New York first. If you need another state, email team@embelabs.xyz and tell us which one. Requests decide what we build next.

Is Prevailwire part of the State?

No. Prevailwire is an independent product of EMBE LABS LLC and isn't affiliated with or endorsed by the New York State Department of Labor.
